How to Build DIY Solar Panels

Did you know that building DIY solar panels is not only easy, but can also save you a lot of money? The sun is an incredible energy source that can provide us with enough power to sustain ourselves, but we aren't taking advantage of it due to technological limitations. By building your own solar panels, you will be able to collect this energy and turn it into electricity.

Here are just a few benefits of using the power of the sun:

  • You can reduce or completely eliminate your electricity bill.
  • You can even get paid by your utility company, by selling them the extra energy you produce.
  • You can get tax deductions, because you will be using resources that are friendly to the environment.
  • You will be completely efficient and won't have to worry about power outages.
  • You can stop producing greenhouse gases and protect the environment.
You will need some materials that are easily available and very affordable, like: copper wire, glass, a charge controller, a deep cycle battery, strong plywood, silicone and UV Protector. Keep in mind that if you want to produce a neat 100 watts of power, you need to use at least 80 solar cells. You must join the cells together in series to form the panel. Each cell consists of semi-conductors such as silicon.

When the rays of the sun hit the surface of the semi-conductor, they cause electrons to break free of their atoms and produce electricity as a result.

The cost of a self assembled solar panel is less than $200 and will pay for itself in a few weeks.

You should install the system where it can capture the maximum amount of sunlight. A good location would be the roof, but you can also use your garden or you backyard. Diy solar panels are very easy to build, especially if you follow the step-by-step instructions of a reliable manual. It will take you just a few hours to complete this project and after that you will be able to power all your home appliances (fridge, stove, dishwasher, laundry room facilities and more).

Thousands of people all over the world are now taking advantage of the sun's energy and save thousands of dollars every year on their electricity bill.
